Pro Tools 9 – The Cool New Features

Pro Tools has always been my number one DAW.
It has the best shortcuts, editing workflow, layout and backend. Hands down. No-one can argue with that. However, many, many things were just plain irritating about it too. Digidesign failed to listen to user-generated feedback and make any changes. Well then Avid bought them and that is all history. In my opinion, Avid has managed to fix every single issue that I ever had with Pro Tools. The best new addition is the ability to run Pro Tools 9 without any hardware attached to your machine other than a little iLok. Imagine taking your Macbook Pro to the beach with you while you lay the finishing touches on your new single.
It’s totally possible now.
Pro Tools 9 now has full, automatic, behind the scenes ADC. That’s automatic delay compensation and works by calculating all the little delays that are generated from plugins, instruments, inserts, auxes, midi and processing. Then it shifts them all into alignment with one another so your music’s timing is accurate down to the single sample. You can now use, say abercrombie , an mbox mini as your sound card and run Logic through it. Or Cubase, or Ableton Live. You can run Pro Tools 9 on other sound cards now. The graphics since Pro Tools 8 has been really nice and modern. You can export MP3’s and export/import OMF’s without any extra software add-ons. The prices are more respectable especially seeing as how the world economy is right now. It’s somehow been sped up so there is no more artificial software speed hampering to make you buy HD. You can convert midi tracks or audio tracks with effects into bounced down audio tracks with the click of a button. Customer support is responsive and fast.
It’s almost not the same software anymore. Highly recommended. This blows away all the other DAW’s with a nuclear bomb.
