It has the best shortcuts, editing workflow, layout and backend. Hands down. No-one can argue with that. However, many, many things were just plain irritating about it too. Digidesign failed to listen to user-generated feedback and make any changes. Well then Avid bought them and that is all history. In my opinion, Avid has managed to fix every single issue that I ever had with Pro Tools. The best new addition is the ability to run Pro Tools 9 without any hardware attached to your machine other than a little iLok. Imagine taking your Macbook Pro to the beach with you while you lay the finishing touches on your new single.
